As I drove to work the other day, I was suddenly struck by how many trees are already changing color. I know the calendar says it is October, but the weather has been all over the place, this weekend it could even hit 80, so it seemed surprising. Getting out and seeing the fall colors is one of the things I am hoping to accomplish this weekend, but if you need some ideas, I've put together some area events.

  • Have a good laugh with comedians Tim Harmston and Shannon Paul at the Paradise Center for the Arts on Friday at 7:30PM.
  • Start your Saturday morning off with a trip to the Faribault Farmers Market opening at 7AM in Central Park.
  • An electronics and appliance recycling drop-off event will be at the Rice County Fairgrounds from 8AM to 2PM on Saturday. The event is free for residents of Rice County with a valid ID.
  • Bike donations can be dropped of at Allina Clinic and District One Hospital on Saturday from 9AM to 1PM. For more information, go to FB4K.org.
  • Saturday night, it's Tributefest: A Tribute to the KING at 7PM at the Paradise Center for the Arts in downtown Faribault.
  • Sunday catch a piano concert featuring John McKay at the Owatonna Arts Center at 2PM.
