Aldi stores are going to start offering customers home delivery beginning soon. It's not a new offering in regards to grocery chains bringing your goods to you, but they are one of the last large chains to offer it.

Over the next two months, it will expand the effort to 75 major markets, including the Twin Cities, in 35 states.

By the end of the year, about 80 percent of Aldi stores will offer online delivery via Instacart. Shoppers can check www.instacart.com/aldi for local availability. When I searched the Faribault zip code it stated that it was 'coming soon'.

One surprise that the website offers you that is different than in store is the ability to use coupons and coupon codes. Aldi currently doesn't accept coupons in store, but through Instacart, which offers digital coupons for many of its vendors, some national brand coupons may be redeemable if stocked by Aldi online.

Never used Instacart, like me, before it turns out that they are offering you free delivery on the first order of $35 or more. After that, Instacart generally charges about $6 per order, although prices range from $3 to $15 depending on availability and time of day.

This isn't the only big newsmaker for the store this year, as they have plans to open more locations later this year in Minneapolis, Princeton, Virginia, and Marshall. In the first half of next year, Aldi will open in Cloquet, Chaska, Lakeville, and Uptown.
