Another Owatonna Coach Departs for a College Job

For the second time this month an Owatonna High School coach has announced they are leaving OHS for a college coaching opportunity. Dan Paur is stepping down after three seasons as the girls' lacrosse coach to become the men's coach for the Minnesota State-Mankato men's club team. Earlier Sarah Murray's new job as the St. Mary's women's hockey coach was announced after one season as the Huskies girls' hockey coach.

In an email, Paur stated, "I enjoyed my time with this team, saw the girls become successful on and off the field and am thankful to the high school for giving me this opportunity. I will miss it."

The OHS girls' lacrosse squad won a share of the Big Nine title with Rochester John Marshall, the Huskies' second straight title. JM topped Owatonna in the section playoffs.

During a KRFO Coaches Show interview, Paur said it was a great season, "We wanted to get better in every half of every game and I felt we did that. We were really competitive in our conference games."

This season's group of seniors were sophomores when Paur started coaching in town, "It's been really special to watch that group of seniors do things not only in lacrosse but also in the classroom." Seniors this season included Lyric Broton, Lauren Arthur, Paige Boedecker, Kismet Richardson, Cassie Bremer, Skyler Eaton, Taylor Woltman, Molly Hawkins, Victoria Dietz and Maylynn Prokopec. Paur also coached the OHS girls' hockey team during the 2017-18 season.

Paur sees more success in the future for the program and says quite a few girls will play lacrosse in the off-season and attend camps. Paur has held coaching positions at several different levels, including as an assistant with the Czech Republic National Team and has played the game at an elite level.
