The Faribault Falcons were very efficient in a 3-0 win tonight over Rochester John Marshall at Nomeland Gym.

Scores were 25-20, 25-15, 25-20. The Falcons finished the night with a team hitting percentage of .308.

Seven different players had an ace serve during the match as Faribault collected 9 aces led by seniors Meghan Swanson and Aubrey Hatfield.

In fact the Cashwise Foods of Owatonna delivery of the match could not have been scripted better.  Hatfield ended parent's night during the Falcons homecoming week with an ace to stamp an exclamation point on the sweep of the Rockets.

The Malecha's Auto Body of Faribault Crunch Time Faribault Players of the Match were senior Olivia Bauer with 12 kills and 19 digs.

Junior Emily Soukup had 9 kills and no hitting errors for a blistering .500 hitting percentage.  She also had 2 blocks.

Setters, senior Whitton Wolff and junior Isabel Herda did an exceptional job of feeding all the hitters so John Marshall couldn't key on any particular players.  That's why they were included in our Malecha's Auto Body of Faribault Players of the Match selection.

Freshman Josie Herda came off junior varsity and didn't show any jitters with a very efficient .429 hitting percentage, 6 kills and no hitting errors.  She was brought up because senior Maggie Leichtnam was out with a concussion.

Senior Meghan Swanson showed a variety of attacks with her 8 kills and .471 hitting percentage.  Junior Addison Dietsch added to the balanced attack with 7 kills while hitting at a .227 clip.

Junior libero Clara Malecha finished the night with 12 digs, 5 set assists.

Isabel Herda had 22 set assists and 9 digs.  Wolff finished with 11 set assists and 5 digs.

The Falcons finished with 45 kills in the 3 set match, 61 digs and 5 blocks.

Rochester John Marshall was led by senior 6'2 Lily Meister with 6 kills.  My unofficial statistics had the Rockets with 18 total kills in the three set match.

With the victory Faribault is now 2-1 in the Big Nine and 7-8 overall.  They travel to Mankato West Thursday.  John Marshall hosts Albert Lea Thursday before Mankato West goes to Rochester Monday night.
