Janesville Hay Daze is a GO this year! The event runs from Monday, June 14th to Sunday, June 20th.

I haven't attended this event before, but boy, oh, boy, does it sound like a great time! The thing that caught my eye first was the 20th Annual Hay Daze Fun Run, which will occur on Saturday the 19th. Proceeds from the run go to local youth.

Check-in for the race is at 7 am: so you may want your beauty sleep the night before. The kids' race then starts at 8 am, followed by the 5K run/walk at 8:30 am.

If you're interested in registering, do so by May 25th. The entry fee is cheaper until then, and you're guaranteed a race shirt. (And what's the point of doing a 5k if you don't have a shirt to prove you did it!)

In addition to the 5k, there are multiple tournaments, including golf, bean bags, volleyball, and bowling.

If all this talk about physical activity is making you lose your interest, don't worry! Hay Daze is equipped with live performances, a carnival, a Miss Janesville pageant, and a classic Hay Daze parade.

As I said, the event sounds pretty tremendous, which is why I am not shocked that Janesville is looking for volunteers. If you'd like to volunteer, sign up here.

There's nothing better than the summer season, and Hay Daze sounds like a great way to kick it off.
