We shared with you yesterday the story of a Colorado girl collecting candy for our troops deployed overseas. Great news we've got a local candy drive doing the same thing! Shout out to Kari S for letting us know! District One Hospital and Allina Health Faribault Clinic are asking for your candy now through November 5th!

The candy collection is to promote healthy living, exercise, and proper dental care. Of course, you can have candy in moderation. If you'd like to donate candy to the troops here is what you are going to have to do:

  • Have your child bring their candy (individually wrapped store-bought candy) to school between now and November 5th.
  • For each pound of candy donated Allina Health will donate a dollar to the local food shelf.

All of the candy that is donated will be sent to programs that fill and send gift boxes to the troops overseas.

The best part about doing this is that District One and Allina Health Faribault Clinic will donate $250 to the school that collects the most candy.
