Owatonna's boys' hockey and basketball teams left the Northland with wins on Saturday. The Huskies' hockey team won the Duluth Heritage Tournament for the first time, beating Big Nine rival Mankato West 4-3 in overtime in the title game. The OHS boys' basketball squad topped Grand Rapids 78-67 to finish up the three-day event at 1-2.

For the hockey squad, Drake Gieseke scored the overtime winner as the Huskies won their fourth straight game. Owatonna (7-3) beat North St. Paul 5-3 and Apple Valley 5-4 in the first two rounds. The Huskies host Austin Thursday, January 3 on Dudley Otto Rink at the Four Seasons Centre.

After a pair of close losses at the Hibbing Tournament, The OHS boys' basketball team earned a 78-67 win over Grand Rapids Saturday. Jack Hanson led the scoring attack with 22 points and had six steals. Evan Dushek had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sol Havelka added 13 points. Steven Eckard had 12 points and four assists.

The game was tied 39-39 at halftime. The Huskies shot 54-percent for the game. Owatonna (4-4) plays at No. 6 ranked Austin Thursday, January 3 at 7:30 pm on KRFO AM 1390 and on the KRFO app.
