The Rice County Public Health Department COVID numbers are following the state trend of moving upward by the largest margin since late January.

According to the Rice County Health Department website the weekly case increase March 21 through March 27 was 123.  The highest increase since it was 130 the week of January 24-30.

The two week case rate which schools look at to determine their mode of operation is up to 33.60 March 14-27.

The weekly peak in COVID cases in Rice County occurred November 8-14, 2020 when there were 785 newly reported cases.

Rice County COVID-19 deaths total 98 with age range of 24 to 104, average age 80.

The living setting type for COVID deaths is Long Term Care 64; Prison 9: Private residence 25.

Total cases of COVID-19 in Rice County through April 2, 2021 are 7,194 according to the Rice County Department of Health.  The Minnesota Department of Health Dashboard says Rice County has 7,191 cases.

Rice County Public Health Department reports 19,954 (37.4%) people have received one dose of vaccine.  12,956 (24.3%) have completed their vaccine series.

In Rice County 89.8% of residents 65+ have been vaccinated.  43.4% of individuals aged 50 to 64.

It's interesting to note when looking at the reported numbers in Rice County that more people aged 18 to 49 have received a vaccine (5,472) than those between 50 and 64 (5,420).
