Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Department of Transportation is reporting numerous traffic crashes and vehicle spinouts this afternoon across southeastern Minnesota where the snow that has fallen today has left most roadways completely covered by slushy snow and ice.

Earlier this afternoon, the State Patrol reported there had been over 300 crashes and spin-outs statewide from early this morning through early this afternoon. Over a dozen of the crashes involved injuries, including a semi-truck crash south of Rochester.

The State Patrol says 25-year-old Mohamed Eid Abdulahi of Willmar was a passenger in a semi-truck that was headed east on I-90 when it left the roadway and rolled over. The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. just east of the Stewartville exit. Abdulahi was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the 29-year-old Willmar man driving the truck was not hurt.

A Winter weather advisory remains in effect until midnight. The National Weather Service is predicting additional snow through the evening with another one to two inches of accumulation possible.
