It's Throwback Thursday! For the past two years, I have traveled along with Farm Director Jerry Groskreutz to the National FFA Convention held in Louisville, Kentucky. Each year we spend our days interviewing area FFA Chapter members and learning about their involvement in the organization. As we prepare to head back to Louisville for the 2015 National FFA Convention, I thought it would be fun to look back on last year's trip.  It's always interesting to meet the students and learn about what they are doing as part of FFA in their communities and in their schools. I've been lucky to witness a couple of members go from being incredibly nervous to be interviewed to handling themselves with confidence. The vast number of people attending the event puts into perspective all of the agricultural career opportunities, and the efforts of the young people who are preparing to step into those roles.

Last year, Jerry and I borrowed a couple of FFA Blue Jackets to blend in, and were left with the gift of a "selfie" from area students. While there may not be time to do much sightseeing, we have been lucky to receive a driving tour of parts of Louisville thanks to our favorite cab driver Pirate. While the first year I attended a member of the "Duck Dynasty" cast was on hand, last year I had the chance to meet a NASCAR driver. There is plenty of fun to be had for the FFA members as well.
