Faribault Youth Have a Great Place to Go

Did you know that there is a safe, positive and supervised place right here in Faribault that our local youth can hang out with friends, take part in fun activities and it's free? That's right, it's called the Faribault Youth Center and it's located in donated space at the Faribo West Mall. They're open Monday-Friday 4-8PM, Saturday 10AM to 5PM and Sunday noon-5PM. It's open to kids 8-18, but families with younger children are encouraged to stop by while shopping at the mall.

Staffed by volunteers that have all passed security checks, it's a place that the local youth can kick back and enjoy a variety of activities including video games, air hockey, ping pong, a pool table, board games, foosball, books, magazines and various craft items.

Even though the space is donated, they still have to cover the cost of electricity, insurance and wi-fi. This is where you can step up and help out, so that this place can continue to exist for the children in our community. This Saturday, October 15, there's going to be a Chili Contest, Indoor Garage Sale and Vendor Event to benefit the Faribault Youth Center, in the mall.

From 11AM to 1PM there will be a Chili Contest. They are still looking for chili contestants to enter and it’s free to participate. Prizes for the three top chilis are $20 in Mall Dollars for first place, $15 in Mall Dollars to second place. Third place will receive $10 in Mall Dollars. Anyone can sample the chili and vote for their favorite for only $1 per sample spoon, with that money going to the Faribault Youth Center.

There's also an Indoor Garage Sale from 10AM to 5PM. Anyone can drop off clean, undamaged items to donate to the garage sale from 4-8PM Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Youth Center.

Plus, there's a Vendor Event from 10AM to 5PM. Vendors are welcome to participate for $20. With this cost you get one eight-foot table and a chair. Additional tables can be rented for $10 or you can bring up to five additional tables of your own for free; $5 from each vendor table rental will be donated to the Faribault Youth Center.
