Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn issued a News Release concerning a single vehicle fatal accident in Morristown Township.  The call came in at 1:19 a.m. Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at Iona Avenue and Isanti Avenue in Morristown Township.

Sergeant Ross Spicer described the incident saying, "Rice County deputies, Morristown Fire/Rescue and North Ambulance were dispatched to a single vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, it appeared a vehicle left the roadway and hit a field approach at a high speed and rolled over.  A lone adult male was ejected from the vehicle.  He was found unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears alcohol may have been a factor and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.  The crash remains under investigation by the Rice County Sheriff’s Office.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the MN State Patrol.

The identity of the driver will be released at a later time pending next of kin notification."
