This afternoon I featured a band that never made it as big as it should have, as my Power 96 Cool One. That band was XYZ and, according to AllMusic.com, this band is made up of members from both France and the United States. They played venues on the Sunset Strip before signing a deal with Enigma Records and recording their self-titled debut album with Don Dokken handling the producer chores. The album did well and they made the jump to Capitol and recorded their sophomore effort, Hungry, which didn't fare as well with the advent of the grunge era in the early '90s. After a tour in support of the album, the band ended up going their separate ways. The band reunited in 2002 and supposedly they're still together to this day, although both the XYZ website or their Facebook page haven't been updated in a while and their lead singer now is now listed as Terry Ilous, with one of the two incarnations of Great White.

All that background aside, this afternoon's Cool One, brought to you by Kellys Auto Parts in Faribault, was the single "Maggy," which comes from their eponymous debut album. The other two singles from that first release were memorable "Inside Out" and "What Keeps Me Loving You." If you haven't heard them in a while, or ever, you can give them a listen right now.
