Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was the rerecorded version of Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4." The original version was released in June 1970 and featured original Chicago member Peter Cetera on lead vocals. That version came in at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Cetera left the band in 1985 to pursue a solo career and the group replaced him with bassist and vocalist Jason Scheff and they proceeded to record Chicago 18, which contained the new percussion-heavy version of "25 or 6 to 4." Released in 1986, it reached No. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was a follow-up to their hugely successful Chicago 17. That album went to No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart whereas Chicago 18 didn't fare as well, only reaching No. 35.

This afternoon we go to the opposite end of the musical spectrum with a little heavy metal from a group that's been around for a while and just released a new album in January. Tune in at 4:35PM this afternoon for the next Power 96 Cool One brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts.
