Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One came from the Sammy Hagar-fronted band Montrose, although it was really band namesake, Ronnie Montrose, who ran the show. Montrose and Hagar formed the band in early 1973, but The Red Rocker left the group in 1975. He ended up being the lead vocalist on the first two albums released by Montrose, their self-titled 1973 album and 1974's "Paper Money," from which I drew yesterday's Cool One, "I Got the Fire." Their self-titled debut made it onto the Billboard chart at No. 133 while their second album managed to cut that in half, peaking at No. 65 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It doesn't appear that the single I chose to highlight ever charted, but it's still a standout track, in my opinion.

Please join me for today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault. Today's Cool One spotlight's an English rocker who spent a few years as part of Procol Harum. Listen at 4:35PM this afternoon to find out who it is.
