Nothing like some Red Hot Chili Peppers to start of your week, and on Monday I chose their single "Californication" as the Power 96 Cool One. Taken from their seventh studio album of the same name, this track made it to No. 69 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on both the Alternative Songs and Mainstream Rock charts. The album topped out at No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

Released on June 8, 1999, the album Californication was their biggest commercial success and welcomed the return of guitarist John Frusciante. He had left the band in 1992 and, after a yearlong search, was replaced by Dave Navarro, who was later let go by the band due to the usual "creative differences" excuse.

Please join me this afternoon at 4:35PM for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault or online at www.kellysautosalvage.com on your classic rock station, Power 96.
