Upcoming Workshops In Our Area On Dairy Risk Management

The USDA Minnesota Farm Service Agency and the University of Minnesota Extension Service have partnered to put on a workshop titled Dairy Risk Management Strategies. The workshop will compare the new Farm Bill's Dairy Margin Coverage and other risk management strategies or Risk Management Agency's Dairy Revenue Protection and Dairy Livestock Gross Margin.

This two hour workshop will use spreadsheets along with other tools to help dairy farmers analyze how the new Dairy Margin Coverage compares with the previous Margin Protection Program. In addition the new Risk Management Agency's Dairy Revenue Protection program is similar to the crop insurance product that provides quarterly coverage.

Two of these workshops will be held in our area. On July 9, 2019 in Rochester at the Extension office in room H1403. The Extension office is in the Heintz Center. The time is 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The second workshop will be in the Extension office in Mankato on July 10, 2019 from 10:00 am to noon. You do not have to preregister and there is no charhe.
